almost wordless wednesday

I'm going to be away for most of Wednesday, for a doctor's appointment an hour East and several errands on the way there and back. Morning chores will be done early and evening chores will be done late.

So now, at 1 AM on Wednesday, I'm uploading three photographs taken on Tuesday, all within a few minutes of the sun going down. And I'll see you on Thursday, I hope.

a little announcement

In the upper righthand sidebar, there is a new item.
Under "Pages" there is a link for Cloud Harvest Cashmere.

I thought for a long while about this, and had reservations about making this blog in any way a "commercial" entity. But it also seemed quite silly to not have an option for anyone who might actually want to see whatever little items I might be making in an effort to support my goats' habit of eating.

I finally decided to make a separate page, so readers can choose to visit if they wish. That seems about as low-key as it can possibly be. I hope you'll agree.

And now, in a completely unrelated theme:

how about this sky?

For about three minutes, the view from my Massachusetts window made me feel like I'm living high up in the Blue Ridge Mountains.

the blues in two keys

When I was first passing through Colorado and stayed 7 years or so,

people back in New England often asked,

"So, what's it like out there?"

I'm not sure what they were asking, really.

But I thought they were asking, "How is it different from here?"

So I would mention the landscape colors.

Not that all the colors are different, of course,

but the overall landscape palette is distinctly different.

At least to my eye.

I thought of this yesterday, when Piper and I went for a walk by the pond.

Because after a night of thunderstorms,

the sky was crystalline

and drifting clouds set off

the very different blues I associate with

Colorado and Massachusetts.

Both.

In one sky.

It's easiest to see in the big picture,

so here it is again:

The lighter, brighter blue near the horizon?

Colorado.

The deeper blue above the cloud?

Massachusetts.

Each different. Both perfect.
