This is only the third or fourth time since first planting
that the gardens will not need morning or evening watering.
After barn chores this morning I went to check on the new garden as usual,
and just stood for a minute watching the rain make all the leaves shine.
Very refreshing.

We're at 3.5" today and counting! Happy plants!
ReplyDeleteYes! I'm hoping some of the water-stressed flowers will have a chance to bloom after all :)
DeleteYay!!! When you've had enough, could you send it our way?

I hope you get the same sort of days-long, fairly gentle, ground-saturating rain that this storm brought to us. Even with all the flood warnings, I was just so relieved to see and hear rain falling!
DeleteThose summer dry spells can be worrisome for us gardeners. I'm glad you got some rain! We've been fortunate this summer with fairly good rain. I've had to water less than most summers.
ReplyDeleteAfter a drought year, I invested in expensive hoses to reach my terrace garden, laid them out, and then did not have to water even once all that season. A balance of rain/sun seems rare in recent years, as evidenced by my endless search for decent hay.
DeleteHooray for rain - in the proper amounts, and not floods of biblical proportions.
ReplyDeleteWe were under a flood warning for a couple of days, but were very fortunate in the way the rain fell - steadily but not hard.
DeleteI have missed a lot of posts, not showing up, so I'm catching up and I love rain on leaves.
