Thank you so much for your kind comments!
A quick update:
Hazel is acting more herself,
and she is eating almost normally.
I am relieved.
She's still approaching chaffhaye very delicately,
mouth barely touching the chaffhaye,
but managing to eat at least half her ration, eventually:
And for comparison, here is mum Azalea,
demonstrating the typical full-muzzle-pushed-into-palm approach:
Hazel is also eating hay and treats,
so definitely feeling better.
I still don't know what happened to her mouth,
but hopefully she'll be 100% soon.

Such a sweet smile Hazel is giving us in that second picture. Best to her, and to you.
ReplyDeleteShe and her mum have almost identical, very sweet expressions :) Thank you, kayT!
DeleteThat is great news! Thank you for the update.
ReplyDeleteWas she able maybe to access frozen metal for a stick your tongue challenge?
Now that is something I had NOT thought of!
DeleteYay for Hazel! That is wonderful news. I hope she continues to feel better.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sally - she is still eating only about half of her chaffhaye, but with a little hay on the side for "extra." And she is definitely feeling more herself :)
DeleteThanks for the update. This is a good trajectory. May Hazel's improvement continue till she's full muzzle-into-the-palm and guzzling her chaffhaye.

Here's hoping! :)
DeleteIt's always a huge relief when they start to be themselves again. Go Hazel!
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth!
DeleteYAy! So glad to hear that Hazel is doing better and that the vet didn't need to be called in. Give her a special skritch from me!
ReplyDeleteWill do :)
DeleteWhat a relief. I am so glad she's on the mend.
