Sweetfern, Comptonia peregrina, is neither sweet nor a fern. It looks like something the dinosaurs would have walked through, releasing the warmest, spiciest aromas of imagination.
Wow, lots of germinating will happen all at once? If it suddenly gets hot here, we'll be in a sea of deep mud. I'm hoping it stays cold and the new (and old) snow and ice can melt gradually.
Well, I guess it's not a good day for sitting in the sun at your place...wish I could send you some of our sun. We are in the 80s now and lots of flowers and trees blooming here in central Texas. One of the things I love about our country is the variety of climates. It's also something to love about the internet since we can all share in each other's weather! I'll think longingly of your snow later this year when it's 102 here.
I agree! I connect with a lot of people in different parts of the world, and being able to remotely experience the variation in seasons is wonderful :)
I often sit in that chair for a few minutes after evening chores - it's like having an icepack from my shoulders to my pelvis, without having to drag an actual icepack out of my freezer :)

And we're looking at highs in the low 80s in a couple of days.

DeleteDid that chair just emerge from the snow? Our Adirondack chairs are barely peeking out of the snow just now!
ReplyDeleteMy salad greens just germinated in my greenhouse. It's been so warm in there during the days. It's a fun adventure!
