now you see it

now you don't!

If you happened to see the horrendous comment that was up for a couple of hours recently, my apologies. Very few slip through the net, and in fact, there's been a remarkably low level of ugliness on this blog over the years.

My guests are just The Nicest People!

So this may have been a one-off. If it becomes a recurrent thing, I will have to implement "administrator approval" for comments, as do many of you on your own blogs. We'll see.
~~~
Further seediness:
Attention Tess, Winner of Seeds: I have no way of contacting you directly! Please send me your mailing address and choice of seed - Winter or Summer squash. If I don't hear from you by Saturday, a full week after the drawing, I will assume you have also won a trip to Tahiti - hey, congrats!!! - and are going there instead of planting a garden this year.
Also in Seed world: here's the link to Tipper's giveaway in case you missed it. Ends tomorrow, 7 April.
Now.
Are we ready for the weekend?
Let's hope for a little less of this:
and a lot more of this:
  1. Sorry your blog had that nasty comment. A first on my blog as well. Along with spam increase this year and the nasty comment, all comments now need approval on my blog. I wish servers could do more.
    1. I've resisted the delayed posting of comments so far. I wonder if instead I can set a filter for specific words or phrases?
  2. Comments have been on an approval basis on my blog too - lately I've been getting a LOT of spammers getting through the blockers from the servers. Haven't had anything rude though - just garbage. At this moment the white stuff is falling -again. I'm crying uncle but Mother Nature isn't listening.
    1. Started snowing here around 11. Still snowing. (Tiny sigh.)
  3. Love the geese! And I'm glad you rarely have trolls visit and leave comments. It's hard to imagine that some folks have no life and therefore nothing better to do.
    1. Yes, imagine having that kind of free time and lacking the imagination to put it to good use!
      Those geese were so funny - the one kept popping it's head up and down every few seconds, and the other never moved :)
  4. Boo for awful comments. I think we have an inch of the white stuff out there, although it's raining now, so it will soon disappear. I hope the roads aren't too bad tonight!
    1. Still snowing here. I'm expecting a call any minute to say my truck is ready and someone from the garage is on their way to pick me up. Otherwise I'd be staying cozily at home tonight.
  5. Good for you to delete the ugly comment. I had to implement comment moderation a few years back and have not regretted it. Love the photos, Quinn--I hope this coming blast of snow won't reach you!
    1. Well, it snowed most of Friday but stopped in the evening. When I woke up this morning, Saturday, it had snowed again in the night - all my tracks had filled in. Gardening is a ways off yet!
  6. Glad I didn't see it. There is already too much ugliness in the world. Snowing here in mid Michigan again today, just as we thought we were headed for some clear weather! Gotta love it. :)
    1. Yes, I agree. I didn't mind dealing with it myself, but felt badly that any of my readers may have seen it.
  7. Did someone leave a specific comment directed toward you and the blog or was it just a random thing? Obviously I didn't see it, but either way, just don't get it. Spammers and some people just have serious issues. Thank goodness for the ability to block and delete as needed. I've not had problems with either and the only reason I use comment moderation is because it is easy to reply back to comments by email (that is if the other person hasn't chosen to be a "noreply comment blogger".
    1. It was very targeted hatred but I was not the intended target. My concern is that Comptonia may now be on a list somewhere. If it happens one more time, I'll go to comment moderation.
      I'm glad you mentioned email replies - had not thought of that at all! In fact, I never knew why some bloggers send emails instead of replying in the comments, but that makes a lot of sense! Thanks :)
  8. I'm so sorry that you had such a comment. I didn't see it but I've seen them on my blog and youtube videos so I have some idea how you felt. I've left my blog on auto-comment, and the ugly comments abated for some reason.
    I cannot believe how much snow you all are getting. We just had one storm but we need about 100X more snow than usual for April-May to get to normal. It's going to be a scary summer.
    Seed planting (except for cold-resistant stuff) is a ways off here too!
  9. Let's hope the ugly comment was random and they don't return. I sometimes get ugly links, but that's about all (I think!). Love the goose 'n gander shots ;) I was down at our marsh yesterday and enjoyed seeing and hearing a lot of spring birds ... geese, redwings, kingfisher, great blue heron, ducks ... it was a noisy place by the water.
    1. Yes, there were ducks on the pond also! I love watching them but rarely get to see them close up because they are very concerned about Ms. Piper. The geese just don't seem bothered. Do you find that with Cody as well?
Thank you for leaving a comment! I enjoy reading each one, and will usually reply either here or on YOUR blog!
