just two cheerful snaps

A White-throated Sparrow, perched in the sugar maple sapling just outside my window. I saw the first flash of yellow last week and have been hoping to get a decent photograph ever since. Today, this little bird provided several.

This fragile stem has been rooting in water after a recent horrible mishap involving a very large potted begonia and a windowsill. This morning I was surprised by the sudden appearance of a perfect flower.

I hope your week is off to a pleasant start.

    1. I was so happy that bird sat still for a minute! They are very zippy little birds :)

  2. I don't think I've ever seen that sparrow. How beautiful--perfect picture. My begonias are struggling through. I had them outside for a few days and they were quite happy, but now we're back to winter.

    1. My begonias are still waiting for that elusive "outdoor weather" but it can't be too much longer now. Right? (Fingers crossed.)

  3. What a wonderful photo of the wee sparrow! How I wish they would come to our feeder but they don't seem to want to be that high off the ground.

    1. I scatter some seed on the ground near a shrub, and several birds seem to feel more comfortable eating there than on the feeder or table. I can't leave a feeder up all the time now, because if the bears are active yet, they soon will be.

  4. Aren't the white-throated sparrows so cute? Great photo of your little visitor. I like it when indoor plants suddenly surprise us with a beautiful bloom. Mine don't do this very often

  5. Both are so gorgeous. When the most notable color on a bird is yellow, why is it called a "white throated sparrow"? And that is the most perfect flower!
