There were five wonderful comments left on the Kiva giveaway post, in this order:
And a few minutes ago, at 5:01 PM, I used Random.Org to "draw" the winner:
Congrats to KB Bear!
I'll email you also, in hopes you'll see this news in time to make your loan while it's still International Women's Day 2017. Of course, being in Colorado, you've got a little more time than I do here in Massachusetts...in fact, the sun is below the horizon already, and I'm making this a very short post as I've been away all afternoon and must get out right away for the last chores of the day.
Thanks to all the commenters
for sharing your thoughts on inspiring women!

Update: 6:45pm
I just checked the Kiva site and there are a lot of loans indicating that matching funds are available - right now, and today only, I believe - so if you have any interest, try using this link to go straight to the first page of "matched" loans, with the little green "X2" badge on the descriptions.

I can't tell you how many hours I spent on the Kiva website after y our first post, trying to decide who to donate to! Your goat photo was a great push because I thought 'goats, of course,' and was able to narrow my search. A friend and I were just talking today, wondering how difficult it is to keep goats, and I mentioned your blog and how much I enjoy it, so I was finally able to make a choice and a donation, lol! :)
ReplyDeleteHuzzah!! I'm so glad you were able to make a choice - I agree, it can take a long time! Thank goodness Kiva has created so many filter options...without that way to narrow down the group, the process could be overwhelming. I only go to the website when I have a little time to spare :)
DeleteThank you! I was so honored to win. I wanted to get the loan completed on International Women's Day, and I did! I found a woman from Tajikistan who is a teacher but is pursuing higher education to become a specialist teacher. She is a young widow and supports four children. What I liked about her story was how the loan would help her better her life for a long time, and it would also help many children, both her own and her students. It seemed like an investment in the future.
ReplyDeleteI thank you, Quinn, and I feel sure that the loan recipient does too!
Wonderful! Thank you for sharing that story :)
DeleteFantastic giveaway, Quinn!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations KB!
Thanks for leaving a great comment on the giveaway, Maywyn :)
DeleteI missed this!! daggone. Kiva is a great project. I am thinking about using it this Christmas as family gifts. I will donate to their choice.
ReplyDeleteSorry - it was very short notice this time!
DeleteThe Gift Cards are easy-peasy, Sue! Can do it by email and/or a printable certificate. If the loan isn't allocated within one year, the funds then go automatically into Kiva's operating costs. A win either way, but I think most people won't wait a year to make the loan :)
I'm so glad you did this once again - I fully intended to make a note of this for Christmas gifting ideas last year and managed to forget all about it. This year I will write it down in a safe place so I remember. Congratulations to KB Bear!
