It's a crazy time of year, isn't it? Your last post talked of spring coming and now winter has engulfed you again. I'm glad that preparations have been made, including the cider. I didn't know that cider could be frozen!?!
ReplyDeleteYes! I asked at the orchard, and was told sure, just leave enough room for expansion in the containers. So I freeze several gallons (minus one big glass from each jug) in November. Then ration them out for as long as possible. I'm thinking of using smaller containers next time, so I can make the supply last longer. Or...I suppose I could think about a bigger freezer ;)
DeleteIt was very cold here too on Saturday - but today was close to 70! Crazy spring weather.
ReplyDeleteWe are supposed to be in the 30s and 40s all week, after tomorrow which is predicted to be colder than today with more snow. A bit hard on the plants that have barely begun to appear! I'm hoping a strong dose of cold will destroy the black flies and mosquitoes and biting flies, though. Wouldn't that be great?
DeleteLovely photos
ReplyDeleteNo snow here as yet. It was bitterly cold in the afternoon, and probably still is. I rushed back and forth doing errands, to the car without a thought of how silly I must have looked shuffling quickly along. lol
I wondered if you had gotten snow. Maybe tomorrow? Just long enough to take some pictures :)
DeleteIt sure looks pretty, especially with those blue skies. Perhaps this is Mother Nature's last hoorah before Spring really sets in. :) Happy baking!
ReplyDeleteWell it gives you more time to design those window boxes. Do the beasties like the snow? How do you refer to them, Our chickens are the girls, the dogs are the kids and the cats for the furballs. You have to have an affectionate name for them as a group don't you?
ReplyDeleteThey aren't usually bothered by snow as long as they have options for sheltering. And lots of grub and clean water. But I don't think they enjoy snow.
ReplyDeleteCollectively, they are called my herd. But most of the goats have a sort of nickname as well as their given name, and they respond to both :)
Snowing all day (Monday), light fluffy flakes at this low elevation in Vermont. What was on the deck this AM, is gone, but lawn is still a bit white.
ReplyDeleteSince moving South, I have sometimes told people we had snow in early April, then I started doubting myself about whether I remembered that correctly. Now you have reassured me that my memories are correct!
ReplyDeleteYour memory is fine - we sometimes have huge snowstorms in April!
