Sweetfern, Comptonia peregrina, is neither sweet nor a fern. It looks like something the dinosaurs would have walked through, releasing the warmest, spiciest aromas of imagination.
I hope you are spared, Sue! I know your plants are weeks ahead of ours. I am concerned about the early plants that had just begun to appear - the only thing I could try to protect was my little patch of bloodroot and columbine, which had been nearly wiped out by the man who built my barn. It's now under a screen balanced on chunks of stovewood and covered with plastic...and eight inches of snow. Fingers crossed!
Good Morning indeed! Doesn't that sunshine speak of better things to come? That's a lovely view of the sun filtering through the snowy trees. Sunny and clear here today (so far), but -10C. I hope it warms up just a bit. Wendy
Today will be a very good day, I am POSITIVE! :) Yesterday was a bit rough around the edges, but 5 hours of sleep instead of 3 is already an improvement.
Some :) It's only been 20s and low-30s today, but the sun has been bright, so the melting has begun. 40 and rain predicted as the week progresses, so it will soon be mud...certainly appropriate for the season!
Ohhhh, good snowy morning, indeed. I hope it warms up soon for you - I was in Denver the past three weeks...got stuck in the freak spring blizzard they had. I loved it, but I know how tiring it gets when you actually live in it! Will be back later on, for some more reading. Happy Tuesday, my friend - stay warm!

Oh dear. Will it ever leave?? It's in our forecast for the end of the week. Not a fan. I hope all of your plants are okay.

Woke up to over three inches of the awful stuff yesterday morning and now 'they' are predicting a lot more later in the week. I hate 'them'!!!
ReplyDeleteHas it started melting yet?

ReplyDeleteHey howdy, Tanya - I was just thinking of you yesterday and wondered if you were off on your travels again! Glad to hear from you :)
DeleteIt looks like a winter morning! I hope it's warming up now. I just heard rumor of a 10-30" snowstorm here on Sunday or Monday. Oh my.
