Sweetfern, Comptonia peregrina, is neither sweet nor a fern, but is one of my favorite plants. It looks like something the dinosaurs would have walked through, and smells like all the warmest, spiciest, most magical aromas of imagination.
Ha-ha! ::) Oh my! :/ Warm wishes, Tammy
Thanks, Tammy :)
One last bit of winter to contrast with spring. The snow missed us! Blue skies and sunshine. Later in the week maybe not.
We did get sun in the afternoon, but still rather cold and about half the snow is sticking around. Disappointing for the hens and roosters, who have been enjoying open ground for scratching and pecking lately. Today they were over their ankles in snow again.
Oh yes, I will happily gaze at that beautiful begonia, averting my eyes very studiously away from that awful white stuff.
Did you get the damage fixed from the last snow?
I won't try to repair the roundtop frame until it's empty. The overall structure feels stable, and with a tarp tied down over the holes in the top, it's still functioning for the hay storage. Thank goodness!
We had about 5" here, and it's all melted in the back yard. What a crazy day!
Oh, this was Monday was it. Hmmm ... I like your photos from Wednesday better ;)
