Sambucus watching the rain from a cozy nest in the Peace Pavilion.

Another rainy night and day. So dark in the house that lamps are needed to see the other end of a room. Since morning chores it's been an indoor day, with my main responsibility being toweling off Moxie and Della every time they come in after brief forays in the saturated underbrush.

The barncams pay for themselves in terms of safety every single day, and on a rainy day (or night) they save me many uncomfortable trips just to check on the herd. Plus there's the entertainment value. After moving the cameras around from the laptop to check on every goat, usually from an overhead angle, it's always fun to suddenly have a face pop up right at lens-level.

Violet on her bench of choice.

Sorry to keep on and on about the rain.

It's the element underlying everything else here at the moment.

  1. I love the sneak peeks at goats. And rain is our motif here too. Heavy alternating with light. Lights on all day.

  2. Barncams - what fun! Especially if you don't want to be outside. Those are fun pics (and great quality).

Rainy days are good to focus on indoor projects! :-)

    1. The goats are definitely aware of the cameras, and I wish I knew what they think is going on with them!

  5. Wow, the Peace Pavilion looks so snug and comfortable. The new barn looks even better than the old one. What brand of cam do you use?

After several 90F days, I got snowed on today (granted, 3,000 feet higher than in town, but still!).

Happy summer solstice and I hope you see some summery weather at some point!

    1. Chris, every time I come in from outside I stand in front of a fan waiting for the sweat to dry and dreaming of snow! All my barncams are Amcrest, though the exact same camera had a different name the first time I bought one. If you have any specific questions just drop me an email!

  6. So glad you have the cams because they certainly save you trips. Violet has such a sweet face with eyes that look so full of wisdom.

    1. She does indeed have a sweet face, which is probably why I am surprised every time she insists on pulling a feed pan out of my hands and knocking half the feed to the ground while I am trying to give her the pan.

  7. One of the best investments I've ever made, and surprisingly inexpensive. I have no doubt the barncams have saved at least two lives.
