In the spirit of a holiday that has come to be associated with feasting,

I threw handfuls of unsalted peanuts out in the wildlife area today.

"You threw what now?"

"Where?!"

"Found one! Wow, this thing is huge!"

"I'd better eat it right here instead of trying to carry it back to my nest."

Meanwhile...

"Huge peanuts are all well and good,
but have you seen the state of this suet feeder?"

I hope if you celebrate Thanksgiving Day it is a happy one.

  1. Lucky squirrel! Our birds look forlornly through the windows when the feeders are empty, too.

    Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. I just found the spot where an impatient woodpecker has been tapping on the wall - it made a little hole!

  2. I love squirrel watching whenever I'm in a place they reside. Unfortunately there are none to be found in the desert. :) Hope you had a peaceful day. Hugs and blessings.

    1. Squirrels are certainly entertaining! Now I've got grey ones AND red ones, and after a year of stand-offs, I recently saw two of them playing together, so I'm hoping peace will now reign in Squirrel World.

Thank you for the smiles. Your critters there are funny.

    1. Most critters have their entertaining side, don't you find? Possible exceptions include mosquitoes and ticks. I may be biased.

  4. Squirrels are cute but destructive little creatures. We live on the 3rd floor of a brick apartment building and they climb up the outside wall to get to our suet feeder and then, when we attempt to chase them away (because they utterly tear the feeder to shreds) they literally jump three floors down to the ground and take off running. It's a wonder they don't addle their little brains.

    1. I used to get a bit annoyed with the squirrels' approach to bird feeders, but then I saw what raccoons can do, and decided squirrels are more entertaining than destructive. Sort of. Most of the time. I also started putting leash clips of the suet feeders for a while, until the squirrels stopped trying to take them apart ;)

    2. Luckily coons are too fat to attempt climing our brick wall or else they'd be here too.
