five on friday

Five snaps taken today, after a rain. And a quick note:

If you are considering signing up for Disney+ for the sole purpose of seeing the Hamilton film - released today - I highly recommend it. Recorded during performances by the original Broadway cast in 2016.

It's an absolute gem.

Happy Independence Day.

Rise up!

  1. I've heard a lot of buzz about Hamilton but I won't be signing up - we have enough trouble dealing with Netflix although we're finally figuring it out. I think. Beautiful photos - thank you! Enjoy your day.

    1. I've dipped in and out of Netflix for years, usually rejoining when I hear that something I've been waiting to binge-watch is available there. It's not a great help with insomnia, though, as watching a show doesn't put me to sleep the way listening to an audiobook in the dark can do.

  2. Wow, what amazing photographs. No Disney for me, but I'm excited that Hamilton is a movie - I'll get to see it at some point! May you have a lovely day!

    1. It would be amazing on a big screen, but even without the pandemic I wouldn't be likely to be able to sit long enough to see it in a theatre. Let me know if you do, someday!

  3. I didn't know Disney Plus existed before the release date for Hamilton was announced, and I was doubtful my slow and gappy internet connection would be able to handle it. But for $6.99 it was worth a try (to me), and I had no problem at all streaming "Saving Mr. Banks" as a test. And then Hamilton yesterday. Twice. I don't think there's much on Disney Plus I'll want to watch, but a month of access was a bargain just for Hamilton :)

    1. Thank you, and same to you! I'm hoping this will be the first year WITHOUT illegal fireworks!

  5. I just saw on Jean's blog that you had finished the hap you were making and sent it off to the baby. I don't remember seeing a picture of the finished project; did I miss it?

    1. No, I was waiting til after the baby arrived to write about it, and maybe even have an artsy incognito photograph. BUT then all this (waving hands wildly) happened. I didn't even have the heart to post a snap of the finished hap on my ravelry project page.
I'm now toying with the idea of writing an essay/article about the whole process of planning and making, which was complex and delightful :) If I publish it elsewhere, I'll be sure to link to it here. Thanks for asking!

  6. I so want to see Hamilton, but with satellite internet that is "supposed" to be unlimited access, well, it's just not up to handling a movie. Maybe it will be on a dvd one day. I can hope. I love your flower photos. You find the perfection in each one and catch it for us.

    1. I hear you, about internet access! I watched another movie the night before, as a preflight test to try to avoid massive disappointment on the day of the Hamilton release. Even so, I feel it was great good luck that I could stream Hamilton. I imagine it will be available on DVD someday, probably with lots of interesting Special Features added. I think, as a storyteller yourself, you will really enjoy it!

  7. What beautiful and unique blooms! We are having a dry year here this year :( Every chance of rain passes by without any drops.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed Hamilton. We have a ton going and I don't think that I can find the time to sit still to watch a movie. Life has to calm down someday but the hecticness is no one's fault but my own.
