December is starting off rather dramatically. Snow began to fall at about 2:30 this afternoon, and is predicted to continue right through Monday and into Tuesday morning. I've moved extra hay to the barns, extra stove wood to the parlor, and filled buckets with water in case we lose power again.
Here we go.
Tomorrow is the day I discover all the things I forgot to do to prepare for Winter.

But before that happens, I just want to take a moment to say
"thank you very much" for card and magnets orders.
Violet says, "I don't really understand how our pictures turn into bales of hay,
but I am ALL FOR IT!"

I was running around yesterday wondering what was left to be done. The snow isn't as heavy as I had feared - but there's a lot of it! Hope you all are snug.
ReplyDeleteThere is indeed a lot of it! I've gone out twice to push the accumulated snow off the roundtops, which are sagging between the framework arches in a most alarming way.
DeleteUp here in above central on the lake side of the Green Mountains in Vermont, 4 or 5 inches fell, barely enough for a good shoveling in the fresh air.
ReplyDeleteStay warm!
It's still coming down here - in fact, it picked up quite a bit in the late afternoon - so even though we've already got a gracious plenty we are apparently getting even more. Every time Piper goes out for 2 minutes she comes back covered in snow and stands next to the stove to see if she can top her previous record for Biggest Puddle Ever ;)
DeleteStay warm and pace yourself!
ReplyDeleteCheers,
Chris from Boise with a measly 2 inches :-(
I am willing to share ;)
DeleteSnow is a four-letter word, and not in the sense of the number of letters either! I can certainly live without it.
ReplyDeleteDo you ever think of relocating? Serious question...it's hard to imagine that you will ever have a winter without snow where you are now. I sometimes think of moving, and one of my criteria is that it would have to be somewhere that doesn't have MORE winter than Massachusetts ;)
DeleteI know we could move, but then you get into all sorts of other storm possibilities that are a whole lot scarier than snow. At least with it we know it's coming and hopefully can plan our lives accordingly. Living in Canada sort of limits the possibilities too.
DeleteOne of my professors in grad school moved to MA from CA. He said, "You can't shovel an earthquake."
