thankful thursday

The rain we've been having.
Whew.
So.Much.Rain.

Some of the vegetables in the garden are struggling with all the moisture. Of course the not-vegetable-plants are having a grand time, as demonstrated by this between-rows photograph:

Despite the weather, and the jungle growing up around them, the pole beans are producing abundantly. And the beans themselves are beautiful - almost all completely flawless, rarely a nibble or a spot, which is not always the case with organic gardening. I am amazed and very grateful.

More bean salad, coming up!

  1. You must have good soil to grow such beauties. Beans are also great for balancing out nutrients so you are doing your part in a give and receive relationship with mother earth. :)

    1. I've been trying to improve the truly terrible soil conditions year after year, aided of course by the goats :) In some spots I am seeing a bit of improvement, but still growing a fine crop of stones everywhere!

  2. Too wet, too dry, the not-vegetables always flourish! Nice to see that huge bowl of pole beans though.
