Two days of rain this week melted much of the snow.
Then, overnight, the temperature dropped 30 degrees!
And windy? My, my. It was.
Today, during a relative heatwave of 24F, a deliriously happy Piper took me for a walk in the woods.
An invigorating time for both of us!

Thank you so much for all your kind comments on the little watercolor portrait of Ms. Piper. If you'd like to see her better in this photograph - she does look rather tiny in the Big Woods! - I think you can left-click the picture.

She is adorable, and you are an amazing artist. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, she IS adorable, and you are very kind!
DeleteGreat picture
ReplyDeleteThis winter I expect to be cold more than anything else.
Yes, we are having a "real" winter this year, aren't we? Bundle up!
DeleteI've taken to wearing a scarf in the house. Before the heat kicks on, its chilly. I'm amazed by how much warmth indoors a scarf creates.
DeleteLove the photo.
ReplyDeleteIt's been crazy weather lately!
Indeed! I'm hoping we don't get any more really warm days. It feels pleasant for me, of course, but the goats may start shedding their cashmere...not good, with most of Winter still ahead.
DeleteIt seems crazy that there's no snow on the ground! Miss Piper does look small in the big forest. Lovely photo.
ReplyDeleteIt was so strange, KB - two solid days of rain and the temp got up above 40F! You could almost watch the snow disappearing. Not the ice, though. Still plenty of that.
DeleteLast weekend we were frozen in snow and ice, this weekend we were out sweating in t-shirts! Love the photo and have to say that the watercolor is really, really nice! I took painting classes in college, but never could master water colors. So I'm impressed!
ReplyDeleteSnow one day, t-shirts the next - that's what I used to day about winter in Colorado! Thanks for the compliment about the little portrait. As I've said before, no one is more surprised that I am when something "comes out" looking like what I was actually trying to paint.
DeleteWhat a wonderful photo of Piper! Love all the wintry leaves.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I try to get a picture like this one every time Piper and I are in the woods, but rarely succeed! Usually she is trotting away from me or racing toward me and I get a picture of a grey blur or a furry behind. This is probably the best one ever :)
DeleteBrrr! Too cold for me. Piper in the big woods. Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteand here we are having a heat spell...crazy!
ReplyDeleteThe weather doesn't know what to do with the temps going up and down on practically a daily basis. Today we had freezing rain/rain and it was dull and miserable - especially when my sewing room window was covered with ice. Gotta love winter (NOT!!).
