Sweetfern, Comptonia peregrina, is neither sweet nor a fern. It looks like something the dinosaurs would have walked through, releasing the warmest, spiciest aromas of imagination.
Piper is still hoping that Della and Moxie are guests who will soon announce their departure for their Real Home. Of course, she is not mean to them, but she is not what one could call a generous creature when it comes to welcoming other animals of any kind. Nobody's perfect!
It would be so nice! I confess, Piper broke my heart over and over again by ignoring the friendly overtures of a dear cat who wanted SO MUCH to be friends with Piper...and never gave up, for 12 years. Moxie reminded me of that kitty from Day One, when she walked right up to Piper who way laying on her mat, sniffed Piper's paw, and immediately did a somersault into the totally vulnerable "++Let's PLAY!" kitten position. I don't know what Piper would have done if I hadn't been there, but I was, so she just looked at me and then looked very pointedly away. Still, we can always hope!!

A very good kitty, as is her sister Della. They have the energy of a dozen, and every day is a brand new adventure :)
Deletea beautiful cat!
ReplyDeleteShe's beautiful! Makes me miss having a kitty but DH has developed a healthy (not!) allergy so we can't have one.
ReplyDeleteAwww, she's so sweet! I've never owned a cat, but my daughter tries to convince me having one would be a good thing.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is half-right...one should always begin with at least TWO cats :)
DeleteHappy belated Thanksgiving. Moxie is a real beauty. I hope that Piper learns to love her.

I don't know what the "plus" signs are in the previous comment! Unless they indicate "extra adorable kitten behavior"!
DeleteSuch a cutie! Jingles does not like her picture taken so I have to catch her on the sly. :)
