I asked the gentleman,
"Am I permitted to take photographs of the moment
when you turn the crank and the bell rings?"
The gentleman said, "Yes."
I stepped back for the shot, and said,
"We're making history here."
As the bell rang, the two people behind me said,
"OMG, can we DO that?" and pulled out their phones.
Let Freedom Ring.

No ringing for voting early - just the "thunk" as they stamped the envelope. The ring sounds like more fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteIt's a great ring! Usually I say "Let Freedom Ring!" and smile at the poll worker when I place my ballot on the box :)
DeleteQuinn, thank you for voting; so many do not.
ReplyDeleteSo true. Just yesterday morning I had a chat with a good friend who was telling me all the reasons why his vote "doesn't matter."
DeleteNice photo. That's funny. Neat having a voter count on the machine. I wonder what his ring is.
ReplyDeleteVoting was steady here yesterday morning.
Steady here, too. Still, no waiting in long lines...it's a very small town :)
DeleteI did early voting so the only sound was the clunk of the mailbox closing. I must say that I'm feeling rather down today. I'm glad that I voted but so many people didn't.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry that I don't understand what this box does. We don't have them here, just a cardboard box with a slot for our voting ballots.
