So...the winner of the Kiva gift card is Thistle Cove Farm!
Congratulations and thank you for your comment, Sandra!
I hope you will enjoy your first Kiva experience :)
And I know it isn't the same as winning a giveaway, but for all the commenters - and indeed for all the silent readers of Comptonia (who I dearly hope will someday say hello!), I'd like to share two special images. I hope you enjoy them.
The first is a hummingbird moth!
If you've ever seen one of these gentle furry creatures you can imagine how thrilled I was to find this one - called a Snowberry Clearwing, believe it or not! Did Tolkien name it? - enjoying the bee balm yesterday.
And only moments later:
Have a marvelous day, everyone!
Really. Let's all look around and find something to marvel at :)

Congratulations to the Winner!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures. The hummingbird moth! That's a real treat to see one.
The first time I saw one I thought it was a baby hummingbird.
Same here! And I don't see them often, so unless I get a glimpse of the color right away, my first thought when I see one hovering and zipping around is still "tiny hummingbird!" Then, "There's something odd about that tiny hummingbird!" ;)
DeleteWe get the hummingbird clearwing moths here, but they tend to stay long enough to be seen and you notice their legs! Not bird-like! And then there are the bird ones, beautiful pix.
ReplyDeleteA hummingbird moth! I haven't seen one in years - they are strange creatures. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winner!
ReplyDeleteHummingbird Hawkmoths are superb, but then, so are Hummingbirds.
Congratulations to Sandra! Loved the pictures - have never seen that moth so that was special, and of course hummers are so hard to photograph so you did well.
ReplyDeleteQuinn, thank you! Some pleasurable time has been spent looking at the Kiva website and choosing a woman who needs money to enlarge her sewing business.
ReplyDeleteYour photos are fabulous...always.
Thank you, Sandra! I'd love to wander around your farm with my camera :)
