owlcam 2016

I've been meaning to mention: the livestream that helped me remain sane in February/March 2015 is open again...

because the Great Horned Owls have returned to the nest!

Bonus: this year there are two camera angles to enjoy. The second view opens in a pop-up window so you can watch either - or both if you have the internet speed for streaming two at once. I don't...it took several minutes of trying to get this snap to show you:

If livestreaming is not possible at all on your connection, do not feel that you must therefore be owl-less...not at all! You can see many, many excellent screenshots and bits of interesting information posted on twitter every day, both by the camera operators and by people who are watching the cameras from all over the world. The twitter account to follow is ‏@SavannahOwls

These amazing owls have two eggs again...will we see them hatch?  :)

  1. That is SO cool! I might be the only person I know who has not seen an owl, not a single owl of any kind. I hear them from time to time but haven't developed the eye for it, I guess. It's on my Bucket List. :) This camera won't count for that, but so much fun! Thanks!

    1. It's always exciting to see an owl, and I hope you will see one someday. But meanwhile, this owlcam will give you a real bird's-eye view :)

Its been awhile since I've checked on live cams. They are a pleasant way to spend some time.

  3. Oh I hear the owl here every night! We have an old oak outside and I guess it´s his/hers favourite place...
    Nice post from you!

  5. Very cool!!! I can't live stream for more than a few minutes per day due to my rural internet so thanks for the other link!

  7. Thanks for the link, Quinn - I almost hate to get involved in another nesting, as it's quite a draw in my "down time"...I seem to MAKE "down time" to watch! ;-)

    1. It is a risk ;)
I usually watch very early in the morning, before chores. I love hearing the birds singing on the owlcam...it's very much like Spring sounds like here, but not for several more weeks yet!
