It's raining today, after two days of bright sunshine.
These pictures were taken on Christmas Day.
This one was taken shortly after high noon.
"High"?
Ha!
Can you believe those shadows?
Here's Tansy, the quiet little girl with the valentine face.
And here's Azalea. She's pretty special.
I wish I could have bred her this year.
Left to right: Betula, LeShodu, and Acer.
The Big Goats.
Here's Azalea again, with her mum, Lily.
My little camera could not cope with this high-contrast world.
"Focus? How do you expect me to focus?"
And because some things are the same every day,
rain or shine,
Christmas included:
(Remember this garden cart? It used to look like this.)
Wishing everyone a lovely Sunday, whatever your weather.

Your photos make me wish we had goats again...almost :) I don't miss the being tied down part, I have to admit. But loved their funny nature, and their personalities! Wishing you all the best in the coming year, Quinn!
ReplyDeleteFiber goats aren't much of a tie-down really, because no milking. Let me know when you'd like a couple, and I will deliver them personally :)
DeleteLoved seeing the photos of all your goats, such fantastic names,
ReplyDeleteglad you had nice weather for Christmas, hope it continues.
Thank you! They were each named for something that was either blooming or leafing out when they were born. Except the matriarch doe LeShodu, who brought her own name with her, along with all her other baggage ;)
DeleteFun photos, Thank you for cheery up this rainy day weather!
ReplyDeleteHappy Last Week of 2015!
Great job on the cart Quinn, the girls are looking happy with the sun outbreak, hope it last a little while for you. Tansy has the look of such a sweet girl. And Butela is gorgeous, how do you keep her so white? I wish you responded with e-mail. I never remember what date to look for your response. It's kinda disheartening. Any way you have a safe and Happy New Year.

I try to respond either here (especially if I think other people have the same question or interest) or on commenters' blogs, but I do know what you mean about forgetting to check back...I do it all the time, Does clicking the "Notify me" box not get you an emailed copy of replies? It used to work for me on other peoples' blogs, but lately it doesn't seem to and I have no idea why.
DeleteLove these shots of the gals, and all those tiny soft noses that fit into the palm of your hand ... goat love :)
ReplyDeleteNice to see the sun is shining somewhere, and what better place than in your woody goat pen. I'm sure the goats are happier with a little sunshine in their day. I know I would be! It's been very non-descript weather here ... overcast & dull. Not warm, not cold, just blah. I should get out with the pup for a good long walk and maybe I'll see it all in a different light in the woods.
Wendy
Sunshine does make everyone feel better, I think. Sunshine and a lack of wind, if I can be extra-picky ;)
DeleteSunshine is a rare thing these days. Today it is brrrrrr outside (rather a rude awakening because we've had such balmy temps up until now). Tonight there's supposed to be a big storm moving in. Sigh. I knew it was too good to last.
ReplyDeleteQuite cold today, and VERY cold tonight! I just stood outside for 15 minutes to make a call on my cellphone, wearing my massive down barncoat for the first time this Winter. AND accessories! Snow etc. expected tomorrow.
DeleteI used to have a garden cart like that and I loved it! We had to leave it behind on one of our moves a long time ago and I've missed it ever since. I have to add that your goats are really good lookers and your shots do them justice!
ReplyDeleteOh, thank you, Leigh! High praise! I know you have deep personal experience with the challenges of goat portraiture ;)
DeleteRain in December? Pfft - this world is getting too weird.
ReplyDeleteI really love Tansy's face. She's a cutie!!!! But all of your goats are distinctive, each in their own way.
I love the long shadows at "high noon" - it's one of my favorite things about winter!
From the day she was born - really, you can check back - the challenge with photographing Tansy has been getting her ears in a vertical-format snap without drawing attention to them. You didn't notice them, did you? :)
DeleteHere, sun today for the first time in weeks...hallelujah! We've had a LOT of rain, the ground is soaked and mud season is early...by months. It's getting colder and snow flurries are expected.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year and Merry Christmas; hopefully both were wonderful.
