We've had more snow.
Some of us are happy:
Others are not so thrilled.
This morning I tried to take a picture of LeShodu.
"Shodu, will you turn this way so I can take a nice picture?"
"No." |
"Please? Just one picture of your pretty face?"
"NO! and I will now press my face against this wall until you GO AWAY!" |
"Hey! You can take my picture! I'm a happy goat!"
(Unfortunately, Betula's attempt to get my attention by swiping me with his hoof is NOT acceptable. Sigh. Everyone is just a little tired of the cold and snow. They are getting restless, and this is a perfect time for experimenting with Bad Habits. Which I will be fighting in August if I let them slide now. So I can't.
Are you listening, Bet?)
Ah well. It's mid-February.
Time to bring out the heavy artillery against Cabin Fever.
Which in this case, is laceweight.

I don't think there is a happier dog anywhere!!! I LOVE your photos, each and every time. Sorry about the snow - sending wishes for warmer weather for you and those delightful goats! XOXO Happy Monday, Quinn - Tanya
ReplyDeleteHow lovely. Piper reminds me of our girl 10 years ago!
ReplyDeleteHope you are managing to keep warm.
Miranda, the alpaca, can also be difficult when the camera is out, but I can be more patient than her :)
ReplyDeletePiper is a treasure.
Looks like you're having lots of fun at your house.
ReplyDeleteHi, I hopped to you after reading your comment to KB, yes, she is so extra thoughtful to let us know, via a pre-written blog, that all is well. Love your goat photos, and down here I dream of having snow like that, we have had it once here in our 13 years, ( lasted for that day only, another lot fell the next day, and that was it) and before that, it was about 50 years at this place!!! Cheers from Jean. ( Nancy J is my internet alias).
ReplyDeleteHi Jean - thanks for visiting and leaving a comment! Right after I visited southern Portugal they had their first snow in 40 years...would you like me to come by? ;)
DeleteHi Quinn, thanks for your visit to me, and any time you are so welcome here, the once in 50 years might not happen any time soon, I think snow is magical, not having it round all the time, some would be lovely, so can you please send by whet we call in NZ... " Fast Post", guaranteed the next working day. Cheers, Jean
DeleteHello I'm one of your new followers from the GYB party. How nice to get to know you a little more, seeing your dog enjoy the snow & your troubles with taking photos of camera shy goats, I'll be looking forward to seeing more.
ReplyDeleteWelcome, Barbara Lilian, and thanks for your nice comment! Please make many more :)
DeleteYour goats are such characters! Can you send us some of your snow please? We still haven't had any. X
ReplyDeleteThis time of year is hard for our animal friends as well as us humans. Not ever having goats, I'm curious as how you teach them when they are displaying bad habits. Are they taught like most people teach dogs? A good verbal scolding? Time out? LOL. Just curious.
ReplyDeleteGood question! Hmmm. I guess the first thing is, I try to prevent more issues than I have to correct. This means trying to think like a goat, and eliminate opportunities for problems. And when there IS bad behavior, I make sure it does NOT get the result the goat is looking for. Nothing is perfect, but I do like a peaceable kingdom :)
DeleteRun, Piper, Run!
ReplyDeleteLindos animales.
ReplyDeleteLindo blog.

Muito muito obrigada Maru!
DeleteThose first three photos are fantastic! Actually, all your pix made me smile. The laceweight yars is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteYour goats are STARS, Quinn :) Your photos bring out the personality of all your critters!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Monique - but I really think they just have have so MUCH personality, it's hard to miss ;)
DeleteQuinn, I've been doing some of the same, skeining yarn and am now knitting Mary a hat. It's at times like this I miss television .
ReplyDeleteI recommend audiobooks! Especially free ones, borrowed (or downloaded) from the library or Libravox! :)
DeleteGreat shots of the animals. My dog is like yours and loves the fluffy stuff for bounding through. Poor Shodu ... you can actually see his lower lip pouting. My little goat "Tinker" used to butt her head into our legs. When she was a kid it was so funny, but then she grew into a monster (size & temperament) and we could never turn our backs on her or WHAM!!! Your blue yarn looks lovely :) Wendy x
ReplyDeleteYep, that Tinker story rings a bell. I remind myself every Spring that a tiny adorable goat who wants to hop lightly into my lap will (quite soon) be a 50-pound creature with horns that also wants to leap into the air and land on my lap! ;)
