Sweetfern, Comptonia peregrina, is neither sweet nor a fern. It looks like something the dinosaurs would have walked through, releasing the warmest, spiciest aromas of imagination.

Perfect ... autumnal trees against a blue sky. We've not seen enough crisp October mornings this year and now it's damp, dark November with a forecast of lots of rain to come.
Yep, I've been lucky in October weather, but it sure looks like November today...rain and gloom, as dark as early evening all day. If I'm not very careful, I may have to do some housework.

Wow, spectacular fall photos! I love the leaves...
