quiche

Do you have a go-to dish?
One that you can throw together without even thinking?
One that can be varied using whatever you find in the fridge?

I sometimes have an abundance of eggs (thank you, hens!), so one of my favorite go-to dishes is quiche.

Never fails.

Never the same twice.

Never disappoints.

Erm....

?????
 Never say "never"?!!

    1. I honestly don't have a recipe...just 6-8 eggs and a splash of milk/cream, whisked together, and poured into a blind-baked pie shell, with a couple of handfulls of grated cheese and/or spinach/broccoli and/or bits of leftover ham/chicken. And it has worked every time...til this one ;)

    3. At what temp do you bake it and for how long. I am indeed going to try it.

    4. At 350 for about 40-45 minutes, til the center feels completely solid when I touch it with a spoon. Good luck! I hope yours turns out like my previous quiches - it really is an easy and versatile dish :)

  2. Sounds delicious! Mine is hunter's stew - chopped cabbage with all leftover meats, sausages, ham etc. Add spices and it's a lovely dish.

    1. That does sound good! I often eat a bowl of steamed cabbage with a little butter, it's one of my favorite vegetables. I'll have to try your stew!

  5. I didn't notice the pastry at first I thought it was all egg!! I used to do a quick supper for the family that looked like this, called gougeres - a choux pastry ring filled with broccoli, hard boiled eggs and lashings of cheese sauce

    1. The pastry shell is rather overwhelmed by the massive volcanic egg filling! Your gougeres sounds lovely...broc and cheese...yum!

  6. You make me laugh, Quinn! I bet it still tasted great! I'm a big quiche fan - the old favourite here always has bacon in it but I do enjoy an asparagus quiche - so good!
